13 locals named to All-Mountain League football team

ALAMOSA – The Mountain 8-Man Football League released its all-league team on Monday with 13 players from the San Luis Valley being honored.

Sanford had seven all-league selections and it was led by Parker Vannoy who was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He was also placed on the first team along with Cash Caldon and McCray Larsen.

Three more Mustangs were second team selections in Gauge Lewis, Lincoln Reynolds and Roj Larson. Alex Sittler was an honorable mention selection.

Sargent had six selections. Wyatt Cross and Jaycian Sierra were both first team, Fernando Venzor, Matthew Voss and Mitchell Plane were second team, and Lucas Garcia was honorable mention.

League and state champion Dove Creek had the most selections with nine and it was led by Offensive Player of the Year Kade Hankins and the other Co-Defensive Player of the Year Tyson Beanland. Its coach Shane Baughman was the Coach of the Year.

Mancos had eight selections, and Dolores had five.
