17 local volleyball players named Class 1A Southern Peaks League

ALAMOSA – The Southern Peaks League released its all-league volleyball team for its Class 1A schools earlier this month with 17 local players being recognized.

League champion Sangre de Cristo had the most selections with five and it was led by league Most Valuable Player Peyton Metz. She was also placed on the first team along with teammates Idahlia Garcia and Presley Wilson. Alysha Ojeda and Palma Enriquez were both named to the second team.

Sierra Grande was next with four selections. Mariana Loya, Aracely Minchaca and Jaylyn Quezada were all placed on the first team, and Aleah Garcia was a second team selection.

Creede had three selections. Hadley Legget and Lila Fairchild were both second team, and Jaden Twite was honorable mention.

Creede’s Emily Simon was named the league’s Coach of the Year.

Centennial and Mountain Valley/Moffat both had two selections.

For the Lady Rams, Carmelita Real was second team, and Xiomara Maestas was honorable mention.

For the Lady Wolves, Nova McConnaughhay and Hali Lawson were both honorable mention.

Rounding out the All-League team was Antonito’s Patricia Silvas who was honorable mention.
