2017 Riggs Benefit Softball Tournament champions named

ALAMOSA — The Bat Attitudes edged WOLO by one run to win the 3rd Annual Riggs Softball Tournament this past weekend at Lee Field.

In the winter of 2015 Alycia Riggs passed away in a car accident in Grand Lake. Today the tournament is a way to honor her while also donating the proceeds to her daughter Azaylee in the form of a trust fund. For the past three years the community has come together and donated their time, effort and money to a good cause in the way of running the concessions, officiating the games, keeping score and also competing.

This year Bat Attitudes found themselves knee deep in the consolation bracket. They pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and went on a six game tear to knock off the two-time and heretofore only champions WOLO and claim the title for themselves.

The game was a seesaw affair that saw plenty of lead changes before coming to its eventual conclusion of 19-18 in favor of the Bat Attitudes.
