2020 Stampede cancelled

MONTE VISTA– In a letter emailed to sponsors Wednesday night, the Ski-Hi Stampede Committee announced that they have cancelled the 2020 event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is with a heavy heart that we are writing to inform you that we will not have Stampede this year,” wrote committee president Greg Metz. “As you are well aware, COVID has stolen many of our freedoms and the decision to put on Stampede was never really ours to make.

“However, our committee deliberated long and hard and finally conceded to the fact that it can’t happen for 2020. Our hearts ache for all of the people in the rodeo and entertainment industries that are suffering the loss of business. We are also heartbroken in regard to the negative effect to our community.”

Committee member Karla Wilschau said 2021 will be the 99th Stampede with 2022 becoming the 100th.
