30 years since Indiana Jones and circus train on C&TS

ANTONITO/CHAMA N.M. — 30th Anniversary of Indiana Jones Riding the Cumbres & Toltec - 30 years ago in 1989, millions of filmgoers were introduced to the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad when it starred as the “circus train” in the blockbuster movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Today, Indy’s boyhood home as depicted in the movie is a Bed & Breakfast blocks from where you can board the Cumbres & Toltec and ride over the same route that was used in the movie, traveling by steam locomotive for 64 miles across the Rocky Mountains.  You might not encounter snakes, a rhino or a giraffe, but you will see railroading just as it was depicted in the film – and you’ll pass by a special water tower erected for the movie, which Indiana Jones used to make his escape.

Fall in Love with Autumn on the Cumbres & Toltec

What’s the best way to see fall colors in the Rocky Mountains? Why, from aboard the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad! After all, the Cumbres & Toltec steams through tens of thousands of colorful aspen trees, chugging at a top speed of 12 mph and going where no roads go, twisting and turning for 64 miles through Rocky Mountain wilderness between Antonito and Chama, N.M. Fall rides can sell out – so book early!
