A Trail of Thoughts: Respect

There is a lot of debate over many issues in this day and age. One thing I have noticed is that people seem to forget the many freedoms that we enjoy as Americans. There have also been many who have gone on before us to pay the price for that freedom.

There are many in this part of the world who are either veterans or have a connection to one. Many folks around the San Luis Valley understand the price of freedom. It is not cheap.

There is a reason that this country has been independent for almost 250 years. In, my mind, it is because the basic principles it was founded upon work.

This country is still blessed with an incredible amount of resources and liberties. People may say what they choose but it is because they have freedoms to exercise.  This is something that most other places around the world do not have. That is something I choose to remember about this nation.

Yes, this country has had its share of rough chapters throughout history and it is not perfect, but there is still freedom here. I want to be a part of encouraging respect of those freedoms.

There is really very little required of those of us who live here. The least we can do is be appreciative.
