A Trail of Thoughts: Sports can be fun!

I grew up in a sports-loving family. As a result, I enjoy watching and participating in them. While there are many different varieties, I have three in particular that I like: football, horse racing, and rodeo.

I have watched football games on television since I can remember. While I would never dream of participating in this particular sport, I do appreciate the skill that it takes. I have also had the privilege of attending numerous high profile games including the 2011 Rose Bowl. I like watching football because it can produce some very exciting moments.

Horse racing is another of my favorites. The tradition, and the sheer impressiveness of the equine athletes have always fascinated me. This is also a sport where you can witness history such as when the first Triple Crown Winner in 37 years was seen in 2015. The Kentucky Derby is also a must watch for me. Going to the Derby is one of the top items on my list of things I hope to see.

Last but certainly not least, there is rodeo. This is the sport that I am by far the most familiar with having participated in it for close to 15 years. Dealing with elements that cannot be controlled is what sets rodeo apart. There is the factor of uncertainty of dealing with animals. No scenario is ever the exact same. The athletes of rodeo are some the toughest and most talented individuals I know of. It is the modern extension of the Western way of life. I will always have an appreciation for rodeo and it is a part of who I am.

In my experience, sports can be an avenue for excitement, fun and sometimes even memories. Life would be rather dull without them.
