RIO GRANDE COUNTY — An afternoon rollover on Monday required Jose Marquez, 82, of Monte Vista to be flown to Colorado Springs. 

The one car crash took place on  County Road 28, three miles west of County Road 28D resulting in serious injury to Marquez.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on October 5, 2020, Marquez was traveling eastbound on County Road 28.  He failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and it traveled off the left side of the roadway where it rolled one time.  He was then was flown from the crash scene to a hospital in Colorado Springs for serious injuries.  The crash remains under investigation by Colorado State Patrol at this time, and alcohol is not suspected as a factor.
