ALAMOSA – The Adams State University Cultural Awareness and Student Achievement (CASA) Center scheduled events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage.

All events at the ASU CASA Center, 101 Faculty Drive, unless otherwise noted.

September 8: Horno Bread and Chokecherry Jelly samples and sales, 12-2 p.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. Pre-made bread $8/loaf and fresh bread $10/loaf; jelly $8/half pint and $12 pint.

The CASA Fundraiser Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased at the ASU CASA Center or Juanitos Mexican Kitchen: The meal, $20/plate or $12/plate for ASU students with ID, will include horno roasted lamb, borracho beans, Spanish rice, horno baked bread, and biscochitos. The evening will feature a Native American blessing by Bertha Garcia.

A free CASA campfire concert will start at 6 p.m. the evening of the fundraiser and will feature Los Cancioneros del Valle – Rose Vialpando, Hilos Culturales Traditional Fold Artist Award recipient 2017, and Ruben Dominguez.

Documentary films El Movimiento: The Chicano Movement in Colorado and Northern New Mexico and Symbols of Resistance: A Tribute to the Martyrs of the Chican@ Movement, begin at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, in McDaniel Hall room 101. Light refreshments will be provided and a question and answer panel will follow the films. Admission to the documentaries is free and open to the public.

A Dia de Los Muertos Alters and Atole event will be held from 12-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the CASA Center.
