Adams State hosts Joe I. Vigil open at Cattails Golf Course

Sydney Gidabuday of Adams State confidently adjusts his glasses mid race. Gidabuday finished with a time of 24:32, 42 seconds shy of the course record.

ALAMOSA, Colo. — Adams State hosted the 25th annual Joe I. Vigil open on Saturday. Three different levels of runners were on hand to compete, from Middle School all the way to the Collegiate level.

The host Grizzly teams picked up two first place finishes; the Men accumulated just 16 points while the Women finished with 21.
At the Prep level Alamosa walked away with a third and a fifth in the team placing by the boys and girls respectively. The boys' Centauri Cross Country team took fifteenth. For complete results visit  RunnerCard.com

Adams State's Women's Cross Country team takes off at the opening gun. Led by Kaylee C. Bogina who finished third overall the Grizzlies took first as a team.

Alamosa's Elijah DeLaCerda (824) finds a burst  to close the High School Boys' 5K. DeLaCerda finished eighth overall with a time of 16:58 to help the Moose to a third place finish .

Alamosa junior Lilly Lavier holds pace as she nears the final turn to the home stretch. With a fourth place finish in 20:10 Lavier helped boost the Girls to a 5th place team finish.   

Derek Van Berkum of Centauri goes all out to finish 62nd with a time of 18:56. Van Berkum and the Falcons finished 15th as a team in the Boys' 5K.(Courier photos by Stephen Jiron)
