ALAMOSA  The Adams State University Southwest Migrant Education Program would like to thank the Community Resources & Housing Development Corporation (CRHDC) and La Puente for their generous donations to our Migrant Educational Program. Thanks to these two agencies, the Migrant Education Program was able to donate 15 laptops to 15 migrant students.

“The guest speaker, Alamosa Mayor Ty Coleman, shared a great story with our students who received the laptops. He expressed some encouraging, positive words to our students and parents with his usual wisdom and energy,” said MEP Educational Advocate Stephany Rodriguez-Moreno.

The students wrote letters to state their need for a laptop and the benefits it would bring.  After reading those letters, grateful recipients were awarded a laptop.

The laptop donations allow MEP students to better complete schoolwork during these difficult COVID-19 times. They will be able to access the internet, complete assignments in google classroom and secure their work in a safe format.

Due to COVID-19, the Migrant Education Program has had to deliver all programs in virtual models. The laptops allow students to join programs without previous worries of being without technology access.

“Parents and students alike are so very grateful and excited with this opportunity and express their sincere appreciation to our donors who have definitely made a difference in their educational experiences during this difficult time,” Rodriguez-Moreno said. “Furthermore, we look forward to partner with other agencies to enhance services to MEP families and students.  Thank you, CRHDC and La Puente.”
