Adams State will celebrate International Women's Day

ALAMOSA—The Adams State University will celebrate the annual International Women’s Day on March 8.

The schedule includes presentations, Aikido and yoga workshops and a march.

All International Women’s Day events are free and open to the public.

The celebration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a welcome in Carson Auditorium followed by an Aikido Workshop by Kathy Parks.

Women Studies students will present on topics from 11 a.m. until noon in McDaniel Hall room 101. The presentations start every 15 minutes and include, in order, Be Bold by Madi Helzer; Human Trafficking, by Jenna Quintana; Women Through the Ages, by Jordyn Neely; and Embrace Your Identity and Purpose in an Age of Confusion and Comparison, by Connie Medina.

The Tips for Non-Violent Action Workshop, by Alice Price, private practitioner in mediation/facilitation, will begin at noon in McDaniel Hall room 101, and includes free pizza.

Student presentations will begin again at 1:15 p.m. in McDaniel Hall room 101. The presentations start every 15 minutes and include, in order, Three Cultures of Weddings, by Soh Koon Ng; Whose Mindset? Art Presentation by Halie Price; Transgender Treatment: Europe and the Middle East, by Missy Heglund; Check My Machismo, by Jeremiah Medina; I am Woman, by Jocelyn Quarles; #DearMe by Megan Benfield; and an Activism Workshop.

A Women’s Solidarity March from Richardson Hall to Cole Park starts at 3:30 p.m. and Kundalini Yoga with Jessica Chacon begins at 5:30 p.m. in McDaniel Hall room 117.

The Mariane Pearl lecture has been canceled.
