ALAMOSA -- For the second time in just under a year, Alamosa firefighters responded to a fire at the Walsh Hotel apartment building downtown about 8 a.m. Wednesday. Assistant Fire Chief Tony Bobicki said minimal new damage was caused in a second floor apartment in the southeast corner of the building where investigators believe someone was trying to melt wire insulation to retrieve the copper beneath. He said it was obvious that people have been living in the building that has been officially unoccupied since a November, 25, 2020 fire that was determined to be arson.
