Age and religion

What Does God say through Solomon about getting older?

“Honor and enjoy your Creator while you’re still young, before the years take their toll and your vigor wanes, Before your vision dims and the world blurs and the winter years keep you close to the fire.

In old age, your body no longer serves you so well. Muscles slacken, grip weakens, joints stiffen, the shades are pulled down on the world. You can’t come and go at will. Things grind to a halt. The hum of the household fades away. You are awakened now by bird-song. Hikes to the mountains are a thing of the past. Even a stroll down the road has its terrors. Your hair turns apple-blossom white, adorning a fragile and impotent matchstick body.

Yes, you’re well on your way to eternal rest, while your friends make plans for your funeral. Life, lovely while it lasts, is soon over. Life as we know it, precious and beautiful, ends. The body is put back in the same ground it came from. The spirit returns to God, who first breathed it.” Ecclesiastes 12: 1-7

We can face it now or face it later, God is in control. It doesn’t matter what you believe. You don’t cancel Him out. He runs things whether you believe it or not. Just like gravity...believe it or not. It is still there no matter what you think about it. The wind...the same thing. Whether you see it or not, it has an effect.

He lives in you and you in Him. The very fact you are alive is Him in you. He is your rock and your salvation no matter what you believe. Choose. You get to pick. At some point you’re going to get the chance. It can be now while you’re running around with many days ahead of you or you can ponder as you are in those last days or moments finishing up your race. One thing about it...He Loves You So Very Much!

A religious spirit with a myriad of man’s rules can harden your heart. You get to choose whose voice you’re going to listen to. He speaks. He speaks to you in all kinds of ways every moment calling you to Him. He Loves You and wants you. It’s simple. Lots of other information can talk you out of that fact. Yet, that fact remains and always will. Doesn’t matter how you have filtered through information from this Earth life. He is who He says He is and always will be.

A life well lived. Yes. That’s what we have. A life well lived. A little walk down a grateful road will lift your mind to Him. He is your rock and your salvation. He loves you. He died so that you may live. Your life, no matter how you lived it, is because He gave it to you. You will finish your race. How is up to you. He is merciful. He is a God of the last minute. Decisions made at the eleventh hour. What an exciting ride we all get to experience. It’s all good and all of it works together for our good. He said so.

You are a son. You are a daughter of the Lord God Most High. That’s a fact. Not an opinion. Watch and see that the Lord is Good and His mercies are everlasting. There is nothing you have ever done or ever will do that can erase His love for you. And, it cannot erase what He did for you. You are not that powerful. You are His and He is yours forever. The devil is in the details. Don’t talk yourself out of His Love for you by the details you may never understand.
