AG's office donates school supplies

Alex Martinez, an executive assistant with the Colorado Attorney General’s office and chairman of the office’s social outreach committee, second from right, delivered a van load of school supplies donated by employees of the AG’s Department of Law, a staff of 500, to the Alamosa school district on Friday. School officials, staff and students graciously accepted the school supplies, which will be put to good use. Martinez, who has family ties to San Luis, said the AG’s staff wanted to help rural schools, and he suggested the San Luis Valley. Staff donated school supplies that were included in the school supply lists on Alamosa school’s web site, with donations ranging from tissue and Crayons to backpacks and notebooks. “It was fun,” Martinez said. He added that he especially wanted to provide assistance to the Valley because of the opioid epidemic here, and he wanted youngsters in school to have one less thing to worry about and to know people cared about them.
