Alamosa armed robber apprehended

ALAMOSA—Alamosa resident Jeremiah Kennedy, 24, was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly robbing 412 Denver Avenue at approximately 7:36 p.m.

"Upon investigation the officers determined that a male subject entered the business, brandished a knife and demanded money from the clerk," said Alamosa Police Chief Duane Oakes.

The clerk cooperated and Kennedy fled with an undisclosed amount of money. Oakes' officers and detectives were able to locate Kennedy who then fled in a vehicle. A sergeant later found him on a county road and took Kennedy in without incident.

Kennedy has been charged with felony menacing, aggravated robbery, theft, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, vehicle eluding and a possession of a schedule I controlled substance.

The substance is suspected to be heroin but has yet to be confirmed by lab tests.
