Alamosa can’t overcome Denver KIPP, suffer 1-0 loss

ALAMOSA — Alamosa Boys Soccer was on the road for their first contest of the postseason dropping a low-scoring affair to the host Denver KIPP Tigers, 1-0 on Thursday.

Alamosa marched through the regular season going 6-0 in the 3A Southwest League and 9-1 overall. But in their first postseason match, Alamosa was unable to hand the Tiger’s their first loss of the season resulting in a premature exit from the playoffs.

The Moose were lead in scoring this season by junior Isai Lemus who banked 14 goals over the season, Lemus was also Alamosa’s point leader with 32. The Alamosa junior was followed closely by seniors Alex Antonio-Estaban and Aidan McComas in scoring who registered 7 and 5 goals respectively.

Junior Cody Gonzalez logged 745 minutes tending net for the Moose allowing just 3 goals over 10 recorded games. Gonzalez also boasted a 5.5 saves per game average and was a big part of the ’21 Moose’s stout defense.

According to their MaxPreps roster the Mean Moose will graduate 5 seniors this offseason – Aidan McComas, Alex Antonio-Estaban, Nephi Rodriguez, Marco Polo Tello Hernandez and Trey Crowther.
