ALAMOSA — The original Alamosa County Courthouse is now officially for sale. An open house for those who may be interested in purchasing the building is set for Saturday, November 3rd from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The building is one of the earliest structures built for the Alamosa County government having served as a functional courthouse for over 80 years. The structure is over 20,000 square ft. and includes a basement, hardwood floors and trim.

The courthouse is on the State Historical register and as such, the only alterations that would be allowed would be to the interior. There was some asbestos found in the building, and a study was done in 2016. Those who wish to see the study can request a copy from Alamosa County administration.

Alamosa County Administrator Gigi Dennis noted that the courthouse is a beautiful building. The county is hopeful that it will continue to be utilized.

The building will be sold as is for a minimum bid of $289,000. Bids will be accepted until November 13th at 4:30 p.m.
