Alamosa High School senior receives Boettcher Foundation Scholarship

ALAMOSA — The Boettcher Foundation is pleased to announce its 2018 Class of Boettcher Scholars. The class consists of 42 of Colorado’s top graduating seniors including Lexi Wright from Alamosa High School.

She will be attending University of Colorado Denver.

“As Boettcher Scholars, these dynamic thinkers and leaders have committed to attending Colorado universities where they will continue using their talents to elevate our communities right here at home,” said Katie Kramer, president and CEO of the Boettcher Foundation.

Established in 1952, the Boettcher Scholarship program annually awards 42 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Colorado. The four-year scholarship includes virtually all expenses to attend the Colorado school of the recipient’s choice: full tuition, fees, a book allowance and an annual stipend for living expenses. The scholarship also includes lifelong programming and support to ensure that students reach their full potential as community leaders. Scholars are selected based on academics, service, leadership and character.

“Our 2018 Boettcher Scholars were selected from a pool of nearly 1,500 incredibly qualified applicants,” said Tiffany Anderson, director of the scholarship program. “We’re confident that this year’s class represents the values the Boettcher family sought to encourage.”

In 2015, the Boettcher Foundation increased the number of scholarships awarded annually from 40 to 42, thanks to a generous donation from B. Grady and Lori Durham of Denver.
