Alamosa Housing Authority hosts tobacco cessation class

ALAMOSA — Alamosa Housing Authority (AHA) is sponsoring a tobacco cessation class on Tuesday, May 8 at 2 p.m. at the Housing Authority office, 213 Murphy Drive. The event will help tenants prepare for tobacco-free policies that will go into effect this summer. The Housing Authority is going tobacco and vape-free to be in compliance with nationwide tobacco-free HUD housing requirements.

Bob Doyle from the American Lung Association will be on hand May 8 to provide information, resources and incentives to support people to quit tobacco use. Interested individuals may have an opportunity to become support group leaders through the American Lung Association as well. Additionally, Alamosa County Public Health will have information about Baby and Me Tobacco Free, a program for pregnant women.

All Housing Authority residents and their families are invited to attend. Contact Julia Toczek at AHA, 589-6694.
