Alamosa mayor speaks at Pueblo event

PUEBLO — Alamosa’s Mayor Ty Coleman was the guest keynote speaker at the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Scientist’s Fall Seminar on Friday, October 26th at St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center in Pueblo. 

ASCLS-Colorado is a member society of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS). ASCLS-Colorado is in ASCLS Region VIII, which is composed of the intermountain states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming.  The seminar offered participants an opportunity to earn up to 6.0 continuing education credits. The education usually covers general areas of the lab that include chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, immunology, blood bank, pathology/histology, coagulation, and microbiology. The seminar also offered a fun atmosphere where colleagues could converse and discuss the rigorous tests and current challenges that modern labs are faced with these days. Coleman’s presentation was titled “How To Be A Champion In The Workplace.” 

Coleman has spent over 20 years working with diverse groups to promote and develop businesses in large cities and rural communities.  He has played a key role in designing and implementing successful marketing outreach strategies for businesses, nonprofit organizations and government agencies. He has given over 300 motivational, inspirational, and developmental workshops throughout America.

Currently, Coleman is an Assistant Branch Manager for Rio Grande Savings & Loan (RGSLA) in Alamosa. He is responsible for Business & Community Relations, which includes developing, coordinating, and evaluating marketing outreach strategies to promote the financial services offered by RGSLA.

Coleman also serves in his community as a volunteer youth football coach, mediator/facilitator for the Center for Restorative Programs, actor with SLV Theatre Company, Kiwanis Club President-Elect, Community Corrections board member, chairman of the board for SLV Development Resource Group, and mayor of the City of Alamosa.  He is often asked to sit on an array of business discussion panels and he is a frequent guest on radio talk shows.

Coleman is the author of a powerful though-provoking book “Jump-Start How To Recharge Your Life.” This inspirational book chronicles his business and personal experiences and provides the keys to having a successful and balanced life.  This inspirational book has received rave reviews.  (Published by Authorhouse Books and Authorhouse.com) His mission in life is to “reach one and teach one daily by his actions.”
