Alamosa police seek suspect in May 1 shooting

ALAMOSA — Alamosa police are seeking a suspect in the shooting of a male victim on Monday afternoon, May 1, in south Alamosa.

Alamosa police were dispatched to the hospital about 3:15 p.m. on Monday for a gunshot victim.

Through the investigation, police determined the gunshot was not self inflicted, according to Alamosa Police Chief Duane Oakes. Police also determined that the shooting occurred in the 1200 block of La Due in Alamosa.
The victim identified a suspect, and as of Tuesday evening police were still trying to locate the suspect, Oakes said.

Officers executed search warrants on two residences and are in the process of obtaining an arrest warrant for the suspect.

The victim received treatment at the emergency room and was admitted to the hospital Monday evening where he underwent surgery, according to Oakes. His wounds were not life threatening, the chief added.
