Alamosa recognizes first responders

During its May 16th meeting the Alamosa city council issued a proclamation recognizing and commending community firefighters, first responders, law enforcement agencies and other partner agencies for their efforts during the April 17th multiple fires that burned about 150 acres and involved three structures and a power line. Wind conditions were also severe that day. The council recognized the 72 firefighters from multiple departments as well as private and government resources that assisted. “We are blessed to have such a good city staff, and that fire could have been a lot worse had you not responded so quickly,” Councilman Michael Carson said. “I really appreciate how quickly everyone came together,” added Councilor Kristina Daniel who attended the May 16th meeting via teleconferencing. “You did a great job,” added Mayor Ty Coleman.
