Alamosa school board sets mill levy, hires Cody

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa School District Board of Education officially hired Marsha Cody as the new Assistant Superintendent at their meeting on Monday.

Superintendent Rob Alejo also discussed the mill levee certification process. As required by state statute, the certification process is designed to reflect the district’s General Fund levy, which is based on requirements that are included in the Colorado School Finance Act. This would include a levy for abatements from the prior year, and a levy to pay principal and interest payments during 2019.

The total of the mills is 40.395. Last year’s levy was 40.432. Alejo also pointed out that the 2019 assessed valuation for Alamosa County for 2019 is $133,693,875.  The board approved the 2018-2019 mill levy as an action item.
