Alamosa schools ready for new year

ALAMOSA — The Alamosa School District Board met on Monday night. 

Some details of the brief meeting are:

* The district is working with local law enforcement to ensure that all students and staff remain safe in the new school year.  Superintendent Rob Alejo pointed out that in view of the recent incident with the compound in New Mexico, the proximity of this event has brought a new awareness of the importance of school security in the San Luis Valley.

* The school grounds and buses are ready to go. The staff was commended for their hard work.

* Policies JICEA-R** and JJA-2* regarding school related student publications and open forums were moved to a third reading.
