Alamosa Seniors: Seniors planning 2019 Canadian trip

Interest is stirring for our Rocky Mountaineer Canadian Rail trip due to take place May 23 – May 31, 2019. Mike and Darleen Jordan with Dream Vacations will be at the center on Thursday, September 13 at 11 a.m. to answer questions and show some videos of the proposed trip. This is truly a “Dream Vacation” so put this meeting on your calendar!

Our annual Patio Sale takes place on Saturday, August 4th from 6:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. We are taking donations during business hours and are so thankful for all of you who have dropped off some really cool items! We are pricing items but half of the fun is finding something great for super-duper deal. Come and find yours and make us an offer!

The last trip to the Creede Repertory Theatre was so much fun, we decided to try for one more!  On Friday, August 10th the Alamosa Seniors will head to Creede at 9:30 a.m. to attend the 1:30 p.m. showing of the Wizard of Oz! The reviews on this musical have been incredible and we’re excited to experience it with you! Call now to reserve your place. Cost is $45 with lunch on your own.

Daniel Workman is offering a Concealed Carry Firearms Safety Class on Saturday, August 11th from 1–6 p.m. Class is free for members of the Alamosa Senior Citizens, $20 for seniors 55 and over and $40 for all others. Please call the center to sign up!

The following weekly activities are for all seniors whether you are a member or not. Please come and join us!

* Billiards Play.

* Coffee social hour @ 8 a.m.

* Puzzle construction.

* M, W & F Strong Bones with Mary Ellen Fleming @ 9:30 a.m.

* Dime Bingo, M-Th from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Free to members. $2 fee for non-members.

* Tai Chi with Lyn Johnson Tuesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. throughout the summer and Wednesdays @ 5:30 p.m. The Wed. class is free to members of the Alamosa Senior Citizens and $10 per class for all others.

* Free 5 point ear acupuncture conducted by Rick Wertz each Tuesday @ 9:30 a.m. for veterans and seniors 50 & over. Those who participate note less stress & anxiety, & better sleep.

* Knitting/Crocheting group meets each Monday throughout the summer @ 10:30 a.m. and the Mah Jongg group @ 1 p.m.

* Linda Falkenthal is here each Friday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. to help with your computer, smart phone or tablet needs. Call to sign up for a session.

* There will be chair yoga on the 27th and then no classes during the month of August.

* Dominoes - Fridays @ 12:30 p.m.

* Daily transportation is available for seniors 60 and over between 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Please call ahead at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a ride for errands, Dr. visits, grocery shopping, dining and participating in events at the Center, etc.
