Albertino Salazar

Albertino “Al” Amador Salazar passed away surrounded by those who loved him on Thursday, November 4, 2021. He was born in Los Cerritos , Colorado, on July 14, 1935, the son of Severiano and Requilda Salazar.

Al grew up in the San Luis Valley learning the art of ranching and farming. He graduated from Manassa High School in 1952, and upon graduation enlisted in the US Airforce. Devoted to the value of education he went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in education at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado as well as a Masters of Social Work at the University of Utah, at Salt Lake City, Utah. He worked a fulfilling career at the Colorado State Hospital working as both a group and program leader.

Though his accomplishments were many, his most precious treasure was his family and the love of his life, Elva Salazar with whom he enjoyed nearly 67 years’ of marriage. Together they would enjoy traveling, exercising, and supporting all of the accomplishments of their family.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Moises, Belarmino, Amador, and sisters Celina, Ella, and Annie. Al is survived by his wife Elva, son Isaac (Sandie), daughter Sandra (George); his grandchildren Amy, Sara, Alayna, Daniel; and great grandchildren Anthony, Ben, Isaiah, Brayden, Reagon, and many nieces, and nephews.

Viewing hours will be Thursday, November 11th from 12:00-4:00 at the Romero Funeral chapel  in Alamosa. There will be a celebration of life at Cristo El Rey Assemblies of God, 117 E. 11th Ave. Antonito on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00am. Burial will be immediately following at Los Cerritos Cemetery in Manassa Colorado. Following the burial there will be a reception at the Catholic Parish Hall. We welcome immediate family and friends but in consideration of COVID-19 we ask that attendees wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
