Alejandro ‘Alex’ Lopez

Alejandro “Alex” Lopez, sadly passed away on April 22, 2023, at the age of 78. Alex was born in San Antonio, Colo., to Dionicio and Estella (Gallegos) Lopez.

He was a talented musician, playing the Acoustic and Electric guitar, Saxophone, Accordion, Organ, keyboard and Harmonica. Alex played music “by ear” and was a member of the Conejos Spanish Choir for over 35 years, where he played Guitar. In later years he also provided music to many Senior Citizens Centers for their Holiday Dances. Alex was a colorful storyteller and often made people laugh with his animated humor. He surely will be missed.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Edna Letourneau and Margie Jiron, as well as other family members, numerous friends and pets.

He is survived by his longtime companion Marjorie Yohn, her wonderful children and grandchildren (Alamosa); his brother-in-law Roger Letourneau and his Nieces Darlene (David) Valdez, Denise Jiron, Noel (Orlando) Ramos and nephew Paul Jiron as well as great-nephews and niece. He is also survived by his Uncle Salomon Lopez (Antonito). He leaves behind many cherished cousins, friends and extended family members.

A Vigil service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos. A Mass of the Resurrection will immediately follow at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Ortiz Cemetery.
