ALS receives funding for taxiway reconstruction

ALAMOSA — On May 15, the FAA announced that the San Luis Valley Regional Airport (ALS) is one of three airports in Colorado that will be receiving Supplemental Appropriation funding in Fiscal Year -2019 or Fiscal Year -2020.  The San Luis Valley Regional Airport expects to receive $7 million in supplemental funding that will fully fund the reconstruction of taxiway A, the parallel taxiway for runway 02/20. The pavement on taxiway A has been identified by consultant engineers and the FAA as the highest priority pavement surface on the airport that requires reconstruction to support current and forecast demands for the airport.

Airport Manger Will Hickman noted “We are extremely excited to hear that the SLV community will be directly benefiting from this funding, which requires no local or state match, and will save Alamosa County and the state approximately $175,000 in matching funds.”  This project will be bid and awarded this year and the timeline for construction is yet to be determined.
