Alternative routes shared during Ride the Rockies

ALAMOSA — As Alamosa hosts the beginning leg of the Ride the Rockies cycling tour this Sunday, June 11, which will host 2,000 cyclists, staff and volunteers, motorists in the San Luis Valley may want to use these alternate routes: U.S. Highway 285 South and Colorado Highway 17 South. Cyclists will be leaving the Alamosa Family Recreation Center in southern Alamosa on Sunday morning and traveling on Highway 160 from Alamosa to Monte Vista, Del Norte, South Fork, over Wolf Creek Pass and into Pagosa Springs for a total of 93 miles the first day.

The second day cyclists will travel 68 miles from Pagosa Springs to Durango, the third day 39 miles in the Durango area, the fourth day 83 miles to Ridgeway, the fifth day 33 or 19 miles depending on the route between Ridgway and Montrose, the sixth day 65 miles from Montrose to Gunnison, and the final day (June 17) 66 miles from Gunnison to Salida.
