Annabell Theresa Rael, 72, went to be with her heavenly father on July 8, 2021. She was a proud mother of four children, caring grandmother & aunt, devoted wife, & loving sister. Her family, friends, and strong faith carried her through life’s journey.

Annabell was born in Denver, Colorado where she grew up with a loving mother, father, seven brothers, aunts, uncles and cousins. She later met her husband Joe and together they made their home in the San Luis Valley.

Annabell graduated from Adams State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and had a successful teaching career for over 30 years. Annabell’s favorite moments were spent with her husband, daughters and granddaughter. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and rejoicing while watching Jimmy Swaggert. She loved receiving phone calls and visits from friends and family. She was always so positive, had the best listening ear and advice.

She is survived by her husband Joe Rael Jr. of Alamosa; daughter Jocelyn Rael of Denver; daughter Brianne (Casey) Quiggle of Wyoming; daughter Bethany Escobar of Alamosa; granddaughter Carmen Escobar of Alamosa; brother Ernest (MaryAnn) Romero of New Mexico; brother David (Patricia) Romero of Denver; brother Clifford (Lorna) Romero of Denver; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her father and mother Tony and Sofie Romero of New Mexico/Denver; brother George Romero of Alaska; brother Sam Romero of New Mexico; brother Rick Romero of New Mexico; brother Tony Romero of Denver; daughter Sofia LaNae Rael.

A celebration of life will be held at River of Life Church in Alamosa on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 11:00 am.  Rogers Family Mortuary is in care of the arrangements.
