Annual Gingerbread Festival

ALAMOSA — For over 8 years Children’s Advocacy Center of the San Luis Valley, a program of Tu Casa Inc., has orchestrated a community Gingerbread Festival. Last year’s attendance inspired the staff to double the expected outcome and as anticipated the prediction was correct. The event was held in partnership with many community partners that worked to make the event a success and bring holiday cheer and support to local families. The event itself had Santa Claus and his teddy bear helper, and consisted of nine stations, being The Tu Casa, Inc. pantry food drive, Adelante Family Resource Center, Dumb Friends League, SLV Early Childhood Council, Rocky Mountain Counselling Group, San Luis Valley Behavioral Health Group, Immigrant Resource Center, Starbucks #1681 and the Gingerbread cookie handout station.

With over 500 attendees, staff received more than 226 canned goods and $46 cash donation to The Tu Casa Inc. pantry. This event was a heartwarming experience for staff and partners, and would have not happened if it weren’t for the following partners and sponsors: Sweet Life Bakery, Starbucks, Alamosa Family Recreation Center, Alamosa County’s Sheriff’s office, John Deere, Johnson Farm, Peak Motorsports, and SnD Express.
