Annual National Small Print Art Show planned for May 27

CREEDE — The National Small Print Art Show will have its opening reception May 27 at 4 p.m. at the Creede Repertory Theatre.

The Creede Arts Council held the first National Small Print Show in the year 2000 as a way of showcasing artists, their work and to present different forms of art to people. This year marks the 18th year of the event.

In this juried art show, 39 artists from across the country, New York to Wyoming, will have their art on display from May 27- June 25. At the opening reception, visitors will get their first glimpse of the wonderful and varied art and a chance to purchase an original piece in an enjoyable atmosphere filled with great company, great art, and great food. Reception attendees will be able to meet some of the artists and learn about some of the various print making techniques.

Charles Ewing, Colorado artist and avid outdoorsman, judged the prints this year. Charles expresses his art not only through print making, but also various painting media and sculpture. Anyone who has visited or even looked into the Collins Memorial Art Park (Main Street, Creede) has seen his moose mural.

The National Small Print Art Show reception is part of the Taste of Creede celebration. The Memorial Day weekend features art demonstrations and quick draws, an art auction, Silver Chef Cooking Competition, live music and theater, and children’s activities.
