Apolinar ‘Paul’ Rodriguez

Alamosa resident Apolinar “Paul” Rodriguez, 89, was welcomed home by our Lord on Oct. 22, 2023, at San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Paul was welcomed into the world on July 23,1934 in Marathon, Texas to Luciano Rodriguez and Ignacia Martinez Rodriguez.

Paul attended high school at Marathon school district up to the 11th grade. He then joined the Army and served in the Korean war. Upon returning home Paul was united in marriage on April 2, 1955, to the love of his life Mary Martinez who preceded him in death. The two welcomed six children, two daughters and three sons.

Paul was a carpenter for most of his life and was a Foreman for Van Iwaarden Builders of Alamosa. He loved watching sports and the time he spent with his grandkids and family. Paul will be truly missed by all who knew him.

His legacy will live on through his children; Lorraine Archuleta, Glenda Rodriguez (James Fernendez0, Kenneth (Genevieve) Rodriguez, Johnny (Vivien) Rodriguez, and Daren (Elaine) Rodriguez, one sister Janie Saldania, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Mary Rodriguez, Parents Luciano and Ignacia Rodriguez, siblings; Simon, Juan Rodriguez, Anita Acosta, Lupe Molinar, son-in-law Nick Archuleta, and grandson Nickoles Archuleta.

Services with recitation of the Rosary will be held on Oct. 26, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Alamosa, at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 10 a.m. also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment with full Military Honors will be at Alamosa Cemetery.
