Arturo Ernesto 'Ernie' Quintana

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arturo Ernesto "Ernie" Quintana on Feb. 4, 2023, at the age of 86. He was surrounded by family. He was born on Nov. 7, 1936, to Eufelia and Carlos Quintana in San Acacio. He was the eldest of nine children.

He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 until he retired in 1975. He then went to Plumbing School in Espanola, N.M., where started a new career as a Mechanical Inspector for the State of New Mexico for more than 20 years.

He spent the remainder of his years in Las Vegas, N.M., and on his ranch in San Pablo, Colo. He spent his time tending his animals, breaking and riding his horses, and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his long-time companion Annie De Vargas, his brothers Orlando (Betty), Jose (Viola), Alejandro "Charlie," Ruben "Reggie," his sisters Rose and Crestina "Carlos," and sister-in-law Priscilla, his children Rhonda, Rene (Doris), Laura (Carol), Paula (Ted), Arturo Jr. (Janeth), Joe(Rita) and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eufelia and Carlos, his brother Gilbert, his sister Julia, grandchildren Fawnna, Jeon-Del, Amanda, and Brad.

Arturo "Ernie" will be laid to rest in San Acacio with his family. Service arrangements will be made later.
