The San Luis Valley Animal Welfare Society (SLVAWS) greatly appreciates the $520 donation from the Adams State University Phite Club, which sponsored “Music for Mutt” night at Milagros Coffee House, featuring Dave Mensch. Pictured is Aftin Gillespie of the Phite Club presenting Frank Peek of SLVAWS with the donation and one of the many handmade dog toys donated. Because the SLVAWS is all volunteer, all of the donation will directly benefit the rescued dogs.

Some of the donation will help a sweet mellow homeless dog we named Cody, also shown here, whom we rescued the day of the benefit. Cody was seriously injured so we took him to the Monte Vista Animal Clinic where he was immediately treated by Dr. Warren Deal and Vet Assistant Carla.
