ASU Welcome Week includes chile cook-off

ALAMOSA – As part of Adams State University Welcome Week, the Office of Co-Curricular Recreation and Engagement (CoRE) is hosting a Chile Cook-Off at the Cultural Awareness Student Achievement (CASA) Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24. The CASA Center is located at the northwest corner of the Nielsen Library parking lot.

The event is open to everyone including students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members.

The chile cook-off will include free chile from Juanito’s Mexican Restaurant and the SLV Brewing Company; free horno bread tasting; a jalapeno-eating contest; a live band; and horno bread and capulin jelly sales. Horno bread prices are $8/loaf of pre-made or $10 fresh. Capulin (chokecherry) jelly prices are $8 for 1/2 pint or $12/pint.
