August menus shared for senior centers in SLV

VALLEY — Following are the August menus for the senior centers throughout the San Luis Valley. Reservations are required. Call South Central Colorado Seniors at 589-4511 or sign up at the individual meal sites. All meals are served with 1-percent milk, no trans fat and no salt butter. Butter is served with bread products. Menus are subject to change.

Friday, August 3 — Chili beans, Muenster cheese stick, salad, cornbread, apple slices

Monday, August 6 — Crunch fish, peas/carrots, sweet potato links, mandarin oranges, whole wheat bread

Tuesday, August 7 — Chicken pot pie, broccoli, apricot pineapple compote, biscuit/honey

Wednesday, August 8 — Meatloaf with brown gravy, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, fresh strawberries, whole wheat bread

Thursday, August 9 — Macaroni and cheese/ham, Brussels sprouts, Waldorf salad/walnuts, whole wheat bread

Friday, August 10 — Frito pie/salsa, lettuce, tomato, cheese, broccoli/carrots, whole wheat rolls, fruit cocktail with Jell-O

Monday, August 13 — Chicken codon bleu, brown rice, asparagus, mandarin oranges, whole wheat crackers

Tuesday, August 14 — Sloppy Joe on whole wheat bun, Brussels sprouts, tator tots and catsup, mixed fruit cup

Wednesday, August 15 — Oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, seasoned broccoli, peach crisp, whole wheat roll

Thursday, August 16 — Posole/pork and green chili, salad, whole wheat tortilla, peach/apricot compote

Friday, August 17 — Hoagie with turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, sweet potato fries, beets, applesauce, whole wheat crackers
