Austin’s Mandy Rowden with Jordyn Pepper opening at Society Hall

ALAMOSA — Society Hall, the performance space, concert hall and community gathering place at 400 Ross Ave. in Alamosa, is proud to welcome Mandy Rowden, award winning Austin singer-songwriter, for a concert Wednesday, March 28th at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Mandy will be celebrating the release of her new CD “When That Day Comes”, on Alamosa’s Howlin’ Dog Records. Opening the show will be Valley native and Josie Award-winning Jordyn Pepper, now based in Nashville. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door and are available at the Green Spot in Alamosa or online at www.societyhall.org.

Mandy’s musical journey began at the age of 6 with classical violin and piano, expanding into guitar in her teens and exploding into full-blown rock/Americana singer-songwriter soon after. Rowden is a student for life and plays an always-expanding list of instruments that now includes: piano, fiddle, mandolin, bass, harmonica, drums, ukulele, and banjo. She is also the founder of the wildly successful Girl Guitar, a musical workshop and complete “Rock School for women” that involves teaching women of all ages to become confident performers in six-week classes.

Mandy’s accolades go on and on - Top Ten Austin Musician of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year (1,000 Miles), and Song of the Year (Let Me In) - Austin Chronicle Music Poll 2016-17; ’Big Moon’ Finalist in Great American Song Contest 2017; ‘These Bad Habits’ voted #2 Album of the Year in the 2015-16 Austin Chronicle Music Poll; and such quotes as, ”Right up there in Lucinda Williams territory” - No Depression, “An Americana Sheryl Crow? Mandy Rowden has the talent, chops, and charisma to go there.” - Austin Chronicle.

Opening the show will be Jordyn Pepper. Jordyn grew up on a farm outside of Monte Vista, yet she knew from an early age that what she was here to do was sing. She decided (along with her supportive family) to jump right in the middle of the music business in a big way, moving to Nashville several years ago to pursue her dream. Jordyn’s music brings the down home rootedness of her farm and ranch upbringing and mixes it with most of a decade of hard work and seasoning in the crucible of Nashville, combined now with the experience of a couple years of touring the country supporting her Howlin’ Dog Records release “Mountain Rain”. She was the winner of the Josie Award (the largest indie music awards organization) for solo vocalist in the Folk/Americana/Bluegrass category in 2016 and also won Female Artist of the Year in the same category in 2017.

Join in a night of music with Mandy Rowden and Jordyn Pepper at Society Hall. As always, wine, beer, soft drinks and snacks will be available. Society Hall – where community celebrates!
