Author Conover to speak Sunday

ALAMOSA — This Sunday, August 5th, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Alamosa welcomes author and journalist Ted Conover. He will speak about empathy as a research tool. Conover’s books include Rolling Nowhere (about hoboes), Coyotes (about undocumented migrants), Whiteout (about Aspen), and Newjack: Guarding Sing Sing, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He is also director of the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University.

Coming August 12th to the UU Fellowship will be roving UU speaker and songwriter, Steve Brooks, from Austin, Texas.  His services are an entertaining and thought-provoking blend of sermon and song, in which he integrates homilies, hymns and special music. Join the peace through music program coming soon.

The UUs meet in the fellowship hall of the Alamosa Presbyterian Church, 330 San Juan Avenue. All are welcome. Call Jan Oen at 719-480-4771.
