ALAMOSA — Barbara M. Lee Salazar, 86, passed away on Friday, June 26 at Penrose-St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo. A life-long Alamosa resident, she was born on Dec. 4, 1933 to Pascual and Mildred Lee.

She attended Alamosa schools and graduated from St. Scholastica Academy in Cañon City, Colo. in 1951. Barbara worked in the financial field for many years, including the Mount Caramel Credit Union; she retired from the Alamosa County 12th Judicial District in 2000. She was a member of the Credit Women International and Business and Professional Women Foundation. Barbara was a devout Catholic and an auxiliary member of The Legion of Mary-Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She dedicated her life to her church and faith and was well-loved and respected throughout the community. She was known as Grandma Barbara to not only her grandchildren, but to numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Barbara was an avid sports fan and loved the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and Air-Force Falcons. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her loving family.

Barbara is survived by her daughters: Heidi Shea, Alamosa and Toni (Bob) Alonzo, Alamosa; brothers, Dick Lee, Alamosa and Joe Lee, Lubbock, Texas; sisters Phyllis (Paul) Melgares, Alamosa; Ema Martinez, Colorado Springs and Theresa (Victor) Archuleta, Flower Mound, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara is survived by nine grandchildren: Adrian (Gail) Alonzo, Wausa, Neb., Jeremy (Jennifer) Alonzo, Alamosa; Sara (Dan) Maier, San Jose, Calif.; Shauna Shea, Alamosa; Michael Shea, Alamosa; Jamie (Craig) Stawiki, Colorado Springs; Deric (Marisa) Lee, Alamosa; Melissa (Joseph) Tibbets, Alamosa and Matthew Lee, Alamosa. Greatgrandchildren include Anika Alonzo, Gabby and Peyton Swanson; Caden, Ryker and Raelee Alonzo; Luke Maier; Damian and Keagan Shea; Remi and Tristan Stawicki; Shea and Jordan Moreno; Leticia Atencio; Jacob and Tyler Vigil; Samuel and Elijah Salazar; Kalob and Calvin Lee and greatgreat-grandson Cruz Key.

Barbara is preceded in death by her mother and father, Pascual and Mildred Lee; son Robert Lee; brother Jim Lee and sisters-in-law Louella Lee and Katie Lee. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Due to Covid-19, services will be held at a later date.
