ALAMOSA — The San Luis Valley Beat the Heat BBQ relies on volunteers from the community to serve BBQ samples during the People’s Choice competition. This year, several law enforcement offices, including the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office, the Alamosa PD, and the Colorado State Patrol came together to make up a large portion of the volunteers.

As a thank you, and show of support, 50 percent of the proceeds from People’s Choice ticket sales were donated to the charity chosen by these volunteers.

The Sherriff’s Office, Alamosa Police Department, and State Patrol volunteers chose the Valley Humane League to receive the donation. Through People’s Choice ticket sales, the BBQ raised $997 to be donated to the Valley Humane League.

The Beat the Heat BBQ would like to again thank these officers, along with all of the volunteers who make this event possible.
