Bench dedication, run to remember Reedo

ALAMOSA— On Saturday, April 14 the Alamosa-Alumni Association will host the first annual “Run for Reedo” in memory of beloved Alamosa teacher Jerry Reed at the Alamosa High School Stadium.

Check in is from 8-8:45 a.m. with the race beginning at 9 a.m. in the teacher’s parking lot. The race will be immediately followed by the dedication of a memorial bench and remembrance ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at “the bricks.” 5K registration is $25; register online at Imathlete.com or the day of. Proceeds will go to the Alamosa Alumni Association, which includes funding scholarships and the memorial bench.

Reed, who passed away on April 17, 2017, was an Alamosa High School educator for nearly 30 years. Following his retirement he continued to mentor students of all ages, as a substitute teacher, Alamosa Alumni Association founder and friend. He’s respected and remembered by many for his loud laugh, smiling eyes and huge heart. The association is asking everyone that knew Reed to join them in celebrating.
