Benjamin Velasquez

Longtime Center resident Benjamin Velasquez, 50, gained his angel wings January 6, 2022 at his home under Hospice Care with his loving family by his side. Ben was born on November 18, 1971 in Center, Colorado, the son of Dillon Velasquez and Jane Jacquez Velasquez. Ben was and will always be known for his passion for building things and being a hard worker. Along with his son Steven, Ben started Velasquez foundation and flatwork. The two did work for many businesses and families in the valley. When he had free time, he loved to go hunting, fishing, shooting, and cooking for his family. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

He will live on through his wife Amanda Velasquez of Center, CO, Steven Velasquez of Alamosa, CO, daughters Tayiah Velasquez, Katelyn Velasquez both of Center, CO, grandchildren Khloe Velasquez, Isabella Stamper, Colton Stamper, sister Angela (Moses) Vargas of Alamosa, CO,  brother Dillon Velasquez of Center, CO. He is also survived by many uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents Dillon and Jane Velasquez as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 12-4 PM at the Romero Funeral Chapel in Alamosa. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at the Center Assembly of God Church in Center. Cremation will follow and Inurnment will be held on Friday, January 14, 2021at 10:00 a.m. at the La Garita Cemetery and a reception will follow at Ben's house located at 157 N. Hurt Street in Center.
