San Luis resident Bertha Laura Medina, 87, passed away March 14, 2019 at the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Bertha was born on February 12, 1932 in Ft. Collins, Colorado, the daughter of Frank S. Medina and Sophie Salazar Medina. She was united in marriage to Enrique “Willie” Medina on November 8, 1952. Bertha was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing, camping, embroidering, doing crossword puzzles, reading her Bible and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children Wilma (William) Quintana of San Pablo, CO; Marie (Alonzo) Ortiz of Ft. Garland, CO; Elaine Velasquez of San Pablo, CO; Ronson (Tina) Medina of San Luis, CO; Sylvia (Anthony) Trujillo of Denver, CO; Willie (Linda) Medina of La Valley, CO; Brenda (Pedro) Lopez of Blanca, CO; Nick Medina of San Luis, CO; Andrew Medina of Colorado Springs, CO; Donna (Fernando) Gutierrez  and Richard Medina both of San Luis, CO; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, siblings Amos G. (Eurfinia) Medina of Aurora, CO; Barbara Espinoza of Alamosa, CO. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Sophie Medina, siblings Frank Medina, Helen Espinoza, Donaldo Medina, Alfred Medina, Joe Medina, Andy Medina, Martha Gonzales, Priscilla Medina, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, son-in-law Bernie Velasquez and daughter-in-law Carla Medina.

A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 6:00 PM at the Apostolic Assembly of God Church located at 700 Alfonso Street in San Luis. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 10:00 AM also at the Apostolic Assembly of God Church in San Luis. Interment will follow at the Apostolic Cemetery.
