B&G benefit concert will feature Flobots and 2MX2

ALAMOSA—The Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley is bringing two Denver-based rock and hip-hop groups to town for a benefit concert March 7.

The Flobots, who became a music sensation in 2007 with their hit single “Handlebars,” will headline an evening of music at Richardson Hall on the campus of Adams State University. The opening group is 2MX2, which has been engaging youth in the community of San Luis with their upbeat, positive messages.

“The concert is part of our effort to celebrate youth and all the great things kids across the San Luis Valley are doing in their young lives,” said BGCSLV President & CEO Chris Lopez. “We continue to see that music is a great way to engage young people, and both the Flobots and 2MX2 are outstanding at creating positive vibes with their unique styles of music.”

The evening will cap a day of events for Boys & Girls Clubs. On the morning of March 7, the Club will hold its annual Celebration of Youth and Youth of the Year breakfast. A dozen youth from across the San Luis Valley will be recognized for their outstanding efforts and contributions.

Throughout 2017, Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Luis Valley is celebrating 25 years of service as a positive youth-development organization.

The Celebration of Youth events on March 7 are intended to help showcase the many great young people growing up in the San Luis Valley, Lopez said.

Concert tickets are $15 for students and $20 for adults. Tickets purchased at the door the day of the concert will sell for $25. To purchase tickets, please call 720-891-6759 or purchase them online at www.BGCSLV.org.
