Birthday for Peyton

Saturday Peyton Sanchez celebrated a belated 13th birthday and spent most of it at The Green Spot selling his handmade brail greeting cards and greeting friends and well-wishers. He also received the Alamosa Elks Distinguished Citizen Award and heard Green Spot owner Ruthie Brown read it to him. Despite suffering a debilitating illness, Peyton has operated lemonade stands at Sun Fest on the Rio and recently began making unique greeting cards, many of which are on display. All of the income goes to his favored charities. Typical of an applauded teenager, he smiled, was generous with high-fives and fist bumps and, yes, rolled his eyes at the things grown-ups say. Peyton is pictured here with his proud parents, Charlie and Sheila.
