Veterans Community Living Center at Homelake had a birthday party on Wednesday, Feb. 1, to celebrate George Blake's 102nd birthday. Blake served in the Army during World War II, enlisting in 1940. He was serving at Fort Kamehameha in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941, when Pearl Harbor was attacked. Blake said the secret to his longevity was, ‘My parents gave me good genes. I have always tried not to worry and to stay positive. I never smoked and a gin and tonic never hurt anyone.’
