The Third Annual SLV Fair Truck and Tractor Pull will be Saturday, August 4th at 6 p.m. This event is open to the public. There are open classes for pickups, tractors and semis for a $50 hook fee. Cash prizes are available and a guarantee of two pulls. Tickets to the event are: Adult $12, ages 5 and over $8, ages 5 and under free, Pit passes $30. The Kids Pedal Tractor Pull will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, in the vendor area, sponsored by U.S. Tractor & Harvest Inc. and John Deere.

There will be other new kids’ activities during this event and the entire fair including water walking balls and laser tag.

The fair will offer a full traditional schedule of fun and fabulous events throughout the week. A wide range of contests will be held, from robotics and cupcake decorating, to Mud Volleyball and Barnyard Olympics. The Mud Volleyball Tournament will be held at noon on Thursday, Aug. 9. Teams may play with as few as four players. Sign up at the fair office.

The SLV Fair also offers a variety of open classes from photography to cooking and canning.

As always there will be animals featured throughout the fair. 4-H members will have their animals, large and small on the grounds for a variety of competitions involving horses, cattle, goats, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits and dogs, along with an open swine show.

Don’t forget about the Jr. Market Livestock Auction on Friday, August 10th at 6 p.m. in the McMullen Building. It begins with a complimentary buyers dinner to support the District 8 4-H council from 4:30-7 p.m. Also featured again this year is an indoor silent auction. Each year approximately 185 youth ages 8-19 participate in the livestock sale. The primary purpose for the sale is for the youth to learn responsibility, time management skills, record keeping and public speaking while working to earn back their investment on the animal they are selling. The majority of the youth have spent their own money on the initial investment for the caring and feeding of their animal. This program not only strives to help our youth become responsible leaders that are invested in their home community, but also to bring the best animals in the San Luis Valley to be exhibited as safe and wholesome products. Come support local youth!

4-H and FFA members are allowed to camp on site with parental supervision. Curfew is 10 p.m. All campers must check in with the fair office.

No bikes are allowed on the fairgrounds.

The livestock barn opens at 6 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. daily. No pets are allowed in livestock barns.
