Scores of contest participants paraded downtown Creede on Saturday for the annual Salsa Fest, tasting dozens of entries to determine the best offered. Vicki Kulyk of Holy Moses (right) offered her green salsa to judges including Valley natives Russ and Becky Seymour of Angel Fire, N.M. Russ is a native of Monte Vista and Becky (Orr) of Alamosa. Blue Yak topped the best free style category and won overall honors. Tommyknocker Tavern took first for best red salsa while the Creede Hotel won for best green. Rincon Realty took first for best fruit salsa.
